Today the trendy Swiss news portal WATSON portrays Barbara Flueckiger’s film color project in a richly illustrated article, wonderfully written (in German) by film critic Simone Meier.

It features Gone With the Wind, The Red Shoes, All That Heaven Allows, Switzerland Sportland (soon online), Roald Amundsen’s North Pole Expedition (Norway 1924), Switzerland’s first Technicolor feature film Heidi und Peter (1955) – see also post on ships – and many more samples from the Timeline of Historical Film Colors.

In addition, it provides information about DIASTOR, the Swiss research project on film digitization and restoration, which focuses on the restoration of film colors in collaboration with Disney Research Zurich, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETHZ, and private companies such as Switzerland’s last film lab cinegrell postproduction in Zurich.
