Dr. des. Evelyn Echle, Scientific Research Manager, ERC Advanced Grant FilmColors

In March 2017 the project welcomed a new team member.

We are very happy to announce that Dr. des. Evelyn Echle has been appointed as a Scientific Research Manager.

Dr. Echle is responsible for process management of the research activities on the technology and aesthetics of film colors including national and international collaborations, reporting, budget, acquisition of technical equipment, conference organization, public relations, and publications.

After working as a print editor for several years, I graduated in Film Studies and Literature (M.A., University of Bochum and Zurich). During an internship at the Filmmuseum Duesseldorf I got in contact with “real” nitrate film for the very first time and it has been fascinating to me ever since. Influenced by the spirit of early cinema, I wrote my PhD thesis about ornamental patterns in silent movies at the University of Zurich. I also lectured at the University of Zurich and Potsdam’s Film University in Babelsberg. From 2015 to 2017 I worked as a research assistant at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Department of Architecture.

Now joining the research project as Scientific Research Manager, my key tasks lie in the support of the management of this inspiring FilmColors project and to help the team to stay on track.
