ShowHide detailsThe layer structure becomes clearly visible when the film is mechanically damaged such as by scratches and scrapes, or by scraping off the layer to prepare a splice. After scraping off the photographic layers, the blue colour coat should be visible on one side of the carrier whereas, depending on the depths and intensity of the cuts and scrapes, the yellow and the red colour coat should be noticeable on the other side..
