Lumière Filmcolor
Description
“Lumière Filmcolor (1931–1953): sheet films (only) on celluloid base (Fig. 2.69). Individual colored grains cannot be seen with the naked eye, but clumps of grains of the same color give the image a pointillist effect. Filmcolor starch grains are smaller and more regular than those of autochrome plates (Blanc 2007: 88). Under polarizing light, the potato starch grains will show a typical spherical cross in the center. Black pigment filler is present. The sheet film is often varnished on both sides.”
